Temperomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ)
Nutan Joy’s interest in the treatment of patients with temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ), led her on a quest to discover a dentist who would provide a dental appliance which would support the movement of the cranial bones, & the jaw joints.
Three years ago she met Dr. David Rawson, a specialist in the area of TMJ, & began collaborating with him by providing craniosacral therapy for his patients.
Nutan provides an initial assessment of the patient’s craniosacral status prior to the fitting of a custom designed appliance which stabilizes the bottom jaw, & allows the jaw joints to be retrained into their proper position. Ongoing craniosacral therapy treatments insure that the cranial bones are properly balanced while the appliance is in place. Patients are referred to Dr. Rawson by dentists & other health care practitioners.
Currently, Nutan has begun mentoring of craniosacral therapists, with the background she has gained, who have an interest in the collaborative treatment of TMJ as an area of specialty.
